Multi-ethnic Community Relations
Scope Note
This category is used to index information on interpersonal relations between individuals or groups of individuals of different ethnic and/or minority groups where multiple ethnic groups or "minorities" live together and interact with each other on a "day to day" and "face to face" basis and usually share a "lingua franca." In most cases, these kinds of interactions occur in large complex nations.
History Note
This category, term, and scope note were introduced in 1996. The term was changed from "Inter-Ethnic Relations" to "Multi-Ethnic Community Relations" in 2015. Prior to 1996, "External Relations" (648) was commonly used for this topic.
