Lectures

Primer on Bayesian Statistics - Jeremy Koster

Two guest speakers independently recorded introductory lectures on Bayesian statistics. This is the first such lecture, created by Jeremy Koster for the years 2021 and 2022. Both videos introduce viewers to the basics of analyzing data using Bayesian statistical techniques. In contrast with traditional, frequentist statistics, Bayesian techniques allow researchers to estimate the probability of the alternative hypothesis (rather than the probability of observing the data given that the null hypothesis is true) and incorporate a prior–that is, a previous estimate of the probability that the alternative hypothesis is supported on the basis of prior research. A second lecture was given by Erik Ringen in 2023.
