Hypothesis
Contemporary educational attainment will be lower for ethnic groups historically ruled by Islamic kingdoms than for ethnic groups historically ruled by non-Islamic kingdoms. (5)
Note
Number of school years was used as a proxy for contemporary economic activity. Results were negative and significant for the local average treatment effect (LATE) of Islamic kingdoms on school years in a subset of ethnic groups that neighbor non-Islamic kingdoms, as well as for the average treatment effect for the treated (ATT) in a subset with matched ethnic groups.
