Hypothesis

Accusations of witchcraft will be more likely to target women when circumstances preceding the accusation relate to fertility and relationships.

Note

While not tested specifically, this hypothesis can be assumed to be supported as circumstances relating to fertility and relationships was used as the reference variable for the independent variable and accusations of women was used as the reference variable for the dependent variable in an odds ratio test of the hypothesis that accusations of witchcraft would be more likely to target men when circumstances preceding the accusation related to wealth or status. This hypothesis was supported (OR = 0.33, CI: 0.16-0.71).
