Hypothesis

Matrilocality, as opposed to patrilocality, decreases the effect of climate-induced income shocks on the gender gap in school dropout, while results remain robust when considering relationships between the interaction between drought and correlates of post-marriage residence customs, household fixed effects, spatial correlation

Note

6 tests considering each of the interactions seperately between matrilocal and patrilocal samples. excluding migrant households; excluding children with a deceased parent; adding interactions between drought and correlates of kinship (ethnicity, religion, marriage transaction mode, polygyny); adding household fixed effects; allowing for spatial correlation (Conley, 5 km radius); percentage point difference coefficients are -0.25 to -0.20 for matrilocal samples(p<0.05), -0.03 to -0.01 for patrilocal(p>0.05)
