Abstract

This study tests for a correlation between severity of socialization and style of art among a sample of nonliterate societies. Typical personality is thought to provide an explanation for these linkages.

OtherCombinationAuthor coded his own art variables and used Whiting and Child's (1953) socialization variables. The sample was derived from Whiting and Child's list of 76 cultures; 30 cases were chosen based on the availability of graphic art pieces.
