By Sear, Rebecca, Mace, Ruth

Hypothesis

The death of the mother will be strongly associated with higher child mortality (5).

Note

The association between mother's death and child death had been investigated in 28/45 populations. Age of children studied ranged from 0-24 weeks to ~1-15 years. (Hypothesis tested by observing the proportion of previous studies with the hypothesized effect. No formal statistical test)
