Patrilocality, polygyny, postpartum taboo, and exclusive mother-child sleeping arrangements are positively associated with sex segregation practices (243).
A test of Whiting's castration anxiety hypothesis, the only significant correlation with segregation by sex occurred was in the negative direction, with circumcision (p < 0.01, r = -0.46).
