Belief in a high god will vary according to world region (48).


The majority of societies in Africa, the Circum-Mediterranean, and South America believe in a High God, while 50% or less of societies in the Insular Pacific, East Eurasia, and North America do. Belief in a high god is not connected with morality except in the Circum-Mediterranean, in which 88% of societies believe in a high god who is also concerned with the moral affairs of humans.
