Hypothesis

Greater separation of adolescents from adults will be associated with sharp differentiation of adolescence from earlier and later life stages (179).

Note

Among boys, having principal companions other than adult men is associated with differentiation of adolescence from childhood (r = 0.19) and adulthood (r = 0.19), amount of contact with peer group (r = 0.22), opportunity for productive property (r = 0.23), sexual freedom (r = 0.22), and lower valation of adolescents (r = 0.19). Girls having principal companions other than adult women is only significantly associated with sexual permisiveness.
