Vertical and oblique transmission are the most common forms of transmission amongst both pastoralists and hunter-gatherers.
Hunter-gatherer data taken from Garfield et al. (2016). Descriptive data shows that vertical and oblique transmission are the most common forms of learning for both groups, and that while the modes of learning amongst hunter-gatherers and agriculturalists were different, most of the variability is due to differences in horizontal and concerted transmission modes.
