Social complexityas measured by economy is positively associated with status of the elderly (413, 418)


Mean values for exploitative, pastoral, incipient agriculture, extensive agriculture, and intensive agriculture were calculated. For both males and females, the the mean value of status was lowest in the least complex economy, exploitative, and highest in the most complex economy, intensive agriculture (417).
