Hypothesis
Advances in craft specialization are positively associated with political centralization (1).

Five measures are used to demonstrate advances in craft specialization: ornateness of prestige goods (chi-square=7.812, p<.05); higher manufacturing labor (chi-square=4.32, p<.04); higher decoration (chi-square=3.86, p<.05); higher acquisition labor (chi-square=0.05, ns); nonlocal origin (chi-square=3.03; p<.08).
