Hypothesis
Traditions of local democracy will be positively associated with more democratic national institutions (86).
Note
Local democracy measured by frequency of succession by formal or informal consensus. The researchers controlled for proportion of population with European ancestry, proportion of cultivable ancestral land, and average year of observation and data collection.
