Hypothesis
Male status is positively associated with mating effort, but not with offspring mortality (10825).
Note
Fertility (posterior mean = 0.237) and mating success (posterior mean = 0.200) were more strongly associated with male status than were productivity, age, and interbirth interval of wife (posterior mean = -0.003) and offspring mortality (posterior mean = 0.084), especially among polygynous groups.
