Note
36% of all world societies marry agomously, ranging from 53% in North America to 21% in Africa. The most exogamous societies are found in Africa (46%), while the most endogamous societies are found in South America (27%). Societies without explicitly-stated marriage rules range from 46% in the Insular Pacific to 8% in North America.
