Hypothesis

There will be a relationship between the traditional presence of a segmentary lineage system and the presence and intensity of conflict

Note

Each type of conflict is tested under three different specifications. Regardless of which measure of conflict was used, or which specification, a positive and significant relationship was found between the presence of segmentary lineage organization and conflict (29). In addition to OLS estimates, the authors tested this hypothesis using a correlation plot, and negative binomial and poisson estimates. For each test, the relationship between conflict and segmentary lineage systems remained strong and positive.
