Hypothesis
Matriliny/matrilocality is associated with reef density.
Note
The presence of fishing and boat building are used as proxy variables. Neither one showed significant results against matriliny or matrilocality. The authors suggest that fishing and boat building are ultimately poor proxies for reef density, and they may need to resort to other proxies in order to test this hypothesis.
