Hypothesis

A longer growing season (GS) and a higher number of annual moves (NMV) is correlated with lower implement diversity and elaborateness.

Note

The authors attempt to fit an additive model and an interaction model of GS and NMV to the data of implement diversity and elaborateness. They find that the interaction model is theoretically sounder, and accounts for around 70% of the variation in CSTS and NCT, and TTS/STS and MXT if the outliers are removed but is unsatisfactory for STS. However, as NCT and TTS/STS account for both diversity and elaborateness respectively, the model is shown to be a good fit, and demonstrates that higher GS and NMV values are correlated with less implement diversity and elaborateness.
