Hypothesis

"The greater the limitations society places on the open expression of opposition, the more likely the occurrence of annual rituals of conflict" (857).

Note

Only the variable "range of participation in decision making" significantly correlated with rituals of conflict (p< .05), which suggests that societies prone to imposing conformity are more likely to display rituals of conflict. Related variables (formal sanctions and enforcement) were tested and found significant.
