Hypothesis
Material punishments will be positively correlated to economic socioecological variables, including more external trade, food storage, and higher dependence on animal husbandry.
Note
The authors suggest a positive correlation between material punishments and the following variables: 1) presence of food storage, 2) increased dependence on animal husbandry, 3) presence of external trade, and 4) decreased dependence on hunting. The results show strong support for the presence of food storage. In addition, increased dependence on animal husbandry is moderately supported. However, there is no support for the presence of external trade and reliance on hunting.
