Hypothesis

Matrilocal context increases the likelihood that a woman is involved in decision-making regarding substantial household purchases and desire for having a daughter

Note

Decision making power is measured across the following domains: Large HH purchases, Visiting relatives, Her earnings, Husband Earnings, Her health care. Results show 11 percentage points higher for decision making power on purchases, 6 percentage points higher desire for girl
