Aloha! The 2015 Annual Meeting for The Society for Anthropology in Community Colleges (SACC) is currently taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Although HRAF is one of the sponsors for this meeting, we cannot attend because we are snowed in New Haven, CT. However, as we are shoveling the snow, our thoughts and spirits are with the SACC meeting and its attendees who currently get to enjoy warm and sunny Hawaii.
Today’s schedule at the SACC Meeting includes a presentation by our second guest speaker, Dr. Daniel E. Brown of the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is presenting on his biological anthropological research – “Stress in Paradise: Biomarkers of Human Experience in Hawaii.
As the logo on the SACC website states, the Society for Anthropology in Community Colleges is all about teaching. HRAF can be used as resource to provide faculty with ideas to incorporate HRAF’s online cross-cultural databases — eHRAF World Cultures & eHRAF Archaeology, into their course curriculum. HRAF’s 40 online student exercises and assignments teach undergraduate students about cultural diversity and social life around the world. Some of the topics found in Teaching eHRAF include:
