Nonlateral cousin marriage is most freuent, occuring in 83% of North American, 70% of Insular Pacific, and 66% of African societies. Duolateral cousin marriage is most prevalent in South America (44%), and quadrilateral cousin marriage is most prevalent in the Circum-Mediterranean (47%).
