Attending this week’s American Anthropological Association (AAA) annual meeting in Denver, Colorado? In addition to the meetings, talks, and poster sessions, I hope you find time to stop by our booth to find out about the new features, or get on-site research and teaching support for HRAF’s online ethnographic and archaeological databases.
The eHRAF World Cultures and/or eHRAF Archaeology databases are usually available at the library online portal at a HRAF member institution. Click here to find out whether your institution is a member of HRAF.
Once in the eHRAF databases and searching the ethnographic and/or archaeological documents, you’ll find our latest improvements in the document results pages– buttons for permalinks and bibliographic citations in MLA, APA, Chicago, Harvard, and EndNote formats. This feature can be credited to my colleague and HRAF’s application systems analyst, Matthew Roth.
At the AAA meeting you can find me during exhibit hours at the HRAF booth #520. If you stop by our booth you’ll notice a brand-new beautiful banner, designed by my colleague Francine Barone. Fran is HRAF’s new Research Coordinator and she can be credited not only for the design of the banner, but also for revamping our home page.
Apropos hire, it was the MA from the University of Wyoming that landed me my job at HRAF many years ago and to this day I use what I’ve learned in field school and in the anthropology classes. I’ve combined this AAA meeting with an opportunity to give back to UW by giving a workshop on (e)HRAF to students and faculty of the anthropology department. Despite the inclement weather quite a few researchers, faculty, and students showed up for the workshop to learn more about the finer aspects of eHRAF.
Hope to see you at the HRAF booth at the AAA in the next few days!
