Thank you for your interest in the Human Relations Area Files (HRAF) and our databases, eHRAF World Cultures and eHRAF Archaeology. As a small, nonprofit, and financially autonomous membership organization, HRAF is more than a database provider. In addition to providing unlimited on and off campus access to our databases for member institutions, we provide personalized support for librarians, researchers, faculty, and students. Annual membership dues depend on whether your institution joins HRAF as a Regular Associate Member or through affiliation with a consortium as a Consortia Associate Member.
Sponsoring Membership
As a 75 year old membership based organization, we are indebted to the service of our sponsoring member institutions across the globe. Sponsoring members play a vital role in HRAF governance by determining goals, policy, and dues at annual board meetings. Sponsoring members pay additional annual dues of $2220 over regular or consortium dues. HRAF covers costs of travel to the annual board meetings. Our current sponsoring members are listed below. If you are interested in becoming a sponsoring member, please get in touch here. For the names of sponsoring member representatives, please see here.

Regular Associate Membership
Academic institutions including universities or colleges (4-year), community colleges (2-year), and high schools may become Regular Associate Members with access to eHRAF World Cultures and/or eHRAF Archaeology. Regular Associate Membership dues vary by institution type and library budget. Dues are based on the previous academic year’s annual library budget for material expenditures. This includes all library expenditures, e.g. books, periodicals, electronic resources, supplies and equipment, preservation, etc., but excludes salaries.
More information about Regular Associate Membership dues can be found here.
Consortia Associate Membership
Academic institutions including universities or colleges (4-year) and community colleges (2-year) that are part of an organized consortium may be eligible for consortium dues.
