Traditional Rice Cultivation in the Philippines

Steps in Using an eHRAF Advanced Search

Step 1. Find culture(s) for the specific country
Click Add Cultures>By Country>Philippines>Ifugao (an ethnic culture in the Philippines)

Step 2. Find subject(s) for traditional rice cultivation.
Click Add Subjects –use tabs to find “matching” subjects for your topic:
>A-Z Index (type the word “rice” in index box)
>Major Subjects>”Resources Exploitation” > OCM 242 Agricultural Science and OCM 243 Cereal Agriculture
>OCM Code>200 range under “Agriculture” (this is the quickest way to see the OCM thesaurus in its entirety)

Step 3. Optional! Add Keywords
In addition to the OCM subjects you can also use truncated keywords, separated by a space: agricult* cultivat*

Step 4. Add more subject and keyword terms by clicking on the + sign in lower right-hand side.

Step 5. Add Keywords
Think of alternative names for rice (e.g. oryza, the botanical name) and separate each word with a space: rice oryza

Step 6. Boolean AND and OR-Very, very important to set them right!
AND to narrow search
OR to expand search
